Put Our Experience to Work for You
Jerry Johnson - President and CEO
Jerry is president and CEO of EMC. Also one of EMC’s founders, Jerry is a versatile, technology-oriented senior leader with a diverse executive background that includes business development, international sales and engineering. This experience, coupled with his highly effective interpersonal style, allows Jerry to develop strong relationships that bring out the best in employees, derive maximum benefit from supplier interactions and develop keen understanding of customers’ needs.
In nine years, Jerry has successfully taken EMC from initial concept to a strong, dynamic and well respected company that has thrived despite the extremely difficult economic period we have experienced. He developed a national footprint for sales activity, led EMC’s expansion internationally with a joint venture in Colombia, established the company as a preferred partner to key lighting equipment providers including Acuity Brands, GE and Grainger. As the company grew, Jerry recruited key new employees to help drive the company’s vision, mission and strategies.
Prior to EMC Jerry was president and CEO of Datacard Group, a global provider of secure ID and card personalization systems. Previous to Datacard he was vice president and general manager of the Power Generation Americas division of Cummins, a manufacturer of diesel and gas engine generator power plants. In these roles Jerry successfully led several major business turnarounds, acquisitions and business integrations under challenging circumstances.
A Bush Leadership Fellowship award winner, Jerry earned his MBA from the Stanford Sloan Program and holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of North Dakota. He is a National Association of Corporate Directors member and has served as a United Way Key Executive. Jerry has also served on the board of Junior Achievement of the Midwest. He is also an avid golfer and hockey fan.
Megan Helling - Director, Finance, Sourcing and Technology
Megan is our director of finance and purchasing. She has been with EMC since March of 2009. In her role, Megan has brought her entrepreneurial spirit along with her drive to succeed. Her work is guided by the values of integrity, respect and accountability. Throughout Megan's career she has made a positive impact through her tenacity and willingness to go the extra mile. She is passionate about using her skill set to exceed expectations and maximize company profitability.
Megan understands the financial impact every day decisions have on the bottom line. Along with her business partner she owned and operated a retail and wholesale discount tool company from 2000-2008. The company grew from a wholesale operation with one retail outlet to three retail outlets within the first two years.
Megan opened her first retail store at the age of nineteen while working for L.S. Distributing. Within three years she opened, staffed and managed an additional six locations. Her variety of roles at L.S. Distributing deepened her breadth of business experience including procurement, where she added several profitable product lines.
When not at work, Megan is a passionate advocate for animals. She volunteers weekly at the Animal Humane Society and serves on the Volunteer Advisory Board.
Megan has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and business from Saint Mary's University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Matt Koonce - Director, Operations and Service
Matt is our director of operations. He joined EMC in 2011, coming from a large commercial general contracting firm. Prior to that, he spent 11 years in Target Corporation's Property Development department. He has been managing projects for 16 years and has a great attention to detail and a “can do” attitude.
Matt has extensive experience managing projects ranging from retail rollouts of 1000+ locations to working in an oil refinery. At Target, Matt developed a new business unit responsible for managing surplus assets from stores and distribution centers. Thousands of assets were managed and transported from hundreds of locations. Because of this experience, he knows how tough it is to work in retail environments and respects the complexity that comes with it.
EMC’s Operation Team strives to deliver world class project management and execution in everything they do. An example of that would be responsiveness to a client’s urgent request, whether it be getting on a plane that night to visit a high priority site or doing a 30 store rollout with less than 30 days to plan and order materials. We strive to go the extra mile! Give us a shot, you won’t be disappointed.
Matt obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He’s continued his learning by taking classes at the Carlson School of Management’s Executive Education Program. A diehard Golden Gopher Hockey fan, Matt is a volunteer youth football/baseball/hockey coach in his local community. He is also an active board member for both Minnetonka Youth Hockey and the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation.
