Supporting Aggressive Roll-out Goal and Unique Site Needs
Founded in 1957, O’Reilly Auto Parts has retail locations in 39 states and is intent on becoming the dominant supplier of auto parts in each of their markets. The customer experience is extremely important to O’Reilly, and a key part of that experience is store lighting. The lighting within each store not only re-enforces their brand, but is critical in ensuring product illumination. The right lighting solution in a retail setting can draw customers in and has been shown to increase profits.
The lighting project for O’Reilly Auto Parts involved over 1000 locations in 23 states. The conversion work was required in a short amount of time. Of the 1,000 locations, some required a reconfiguration of the fixture layout to provide better lighting for store merchandise, while others required a simple lamp change and cleaning. Design work was required to ensure a layout “fit” for each location, and to provide a foundation for a sound investment decision for each. The variation was significant. Working together, EMC and O’Reilly team members developed and launched a successful plan.

Each site required individual utility and rebate discussions. The EMC rebate team helped prioritize locations based on their overall payback. EMC also identified additional rebate dollars in several locations, which helped drive down O'Reilly's overall cost of each project. As a result, O’Reilly’s capital investment stretched to accommodate more locations than originally expected.
