NALMCO Annual Convention + Trade Show Update

The interNational Association of Lighting Management Companies (NALMCO) held its 69th Annual Convention and Trade Show October 16 – 19, 2022, at the Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa in Phoenix, AZ.
EMC has long been a member of NALMCO, which is committed to raising the professional level of its members and the performance of lighting systems by providing education, certification and networking opportunities for the lighting industry. NALMCO membership is a great way to monitor industry trends and ensure your company has the right skills to serve current and future customer needs.
Key Convention Topics
The economy was a major topic of conversation at the convention, with talk of the supply chain loosening up and some vendors anticipating reduced lead times. Good, quality labor remains an ongoing concern for many.
While advancements in new lighting technologies continue, electric vehicle (EV) charging is trending at a significant pace, backed by government funding opportunities at federal, state and local levels.
Being ready for these opportunities requires skills including those of master electricians. It’s important to note any updates in EV charging station installation capabilities in your profile and remember that those who are in your local network but not part of your company need to be vetted as third-party vendors by EMC.
NALMCO Certifications
NALMCO is an excellent source for certifications. New Lighting Auditor certification will become available in late Q1 2023 and their Certified Apprentice Lighting Technician (CALT) and Certified Senior Lighting Technician (CSLT) certifications are currently being updated with plans to launch sometime next year.
Watch for new, in-person training for germicidal UV lighting at the 2023 NALMCO Spring Seminar, March 7–9, 2023 in Indianapolis and at the 70th NALMCO Annual Convention & Trade Show, October 8–11, 2023 at Indian Wells, CA. Certified Lighting Management Consultant (CLMC) training will also be available at these events as is standard.
