How Human-centric Lighting Works
Any light that reaches people’s eyes can impact their health and wellness. Research shows a wide variety of lighting sources and their differing spectrums and quantities of light affect people in both visual and nonvisual ways.
Lighting can be adjusted to suit personal preferences. For instance, at EMC’s headquarters color tunable white lights that can change from yellow/warm to a blue/cool are currently in use.
Circadian lighting, where the light changes color throughout the day to simulate the sun, creates an inviting work environment. Research supports the impact circadian lighting has on a variety of different people, from shift workers and students to hospitals and patients in health care settings.
